a black silk tunic worked with purple kestrels

October 6, 2008

Light-weight black silk has been tailored into the sharp lines of this sleeveless tunic. Falling from a high cap collar to mid-thigh, the length of this rich garment is encrusted with detailed embroidery depicting dark purple kestrels winding around each other in an intricate, many-feathered dance, highlighted sparingly with gold and silver threads as well as thin pieces of amethysts that catch the light with a dark, opalescent fire. Tarnished golden ribbon slubbed with rust-coloured imperfections lines the upturned collar at the neck; a small jade button at the throat serves to fasten the garment.
