a curving steel hairpin set with garnets

March 21, 2009

This elegant steel hairpin appears to have been twisted from brushed steel wire, winding it around the central bar in the form of an embellished treble clef. Tiny garnets wink up from along the curve of the treble clef, shining like drops of blood against the dull metal. A tiny, intricate pinion has been engraved upon the tip of the hairpin.

a gnarled hairpin of slender bone

March 21, 2009

One smooth tendril of ivory bone has been unnaturally twisted and gnarled into knots and curls that fit elegantly into the hair. Each knotwork cradle is inlaid with one subtle moonstone, its milky swirls of grey and white complementing the pure pearlescence of the bone. The pin is hewn to a delicate taper, its edge sharpened just enough to appear ornamentally claw-like. On the underside of the pin is engraved the symbol of a tiny, intricate pinion.

a platinum hairpin with dangling stars of garnet

March 21, 2009

A long strip of platinum has been flattened and separated into four strands and then woven around itself in an intricate knot-work design. The design has then been folded in on itself, into a tiny hairpin, gleaming platinum reflecting and shimmering through a multitude of blue and purple hues. Along the length of the pin are chains, each tiny, delicate strand holding a miniature star-shaped garnet in a deep blood-red. A tiny, intricate pinion has been engraved upon the tip of the hairpin.

a tarnished gold carillon pendant

December 27, 2008

Worn through the ravages of time, the tarnished gold of this intricate pendant has been moulded to depict one of the imposing Carillons of Screaming Hatreds – the bells ringing in fury from atop the Demon Lord Ashtorath’s Tower upon Nil. The surface of the metal is blemished with darker streaks and lacks the lustre of freshly cast golden jewellery. The edges of the bell, which fails to produce a single sound, are almost black as if charred. A matching thin chain wraps around the neck and closes on a comfortably large clasp engraved with the effigy of a grotesque crouching gargoyle.

serpentine prayer beads of filigreed glass

August 18, 2008

At first glance, this delicate set of beads appears to be little more than ornamented glass. A closer look reveals that the beads are spheres of clear glass, hollow and bearing tiny Ourobori wrought in gold and dark green jade, suspended in the centre of the bead by a fragile golden wire. Golden filigree in chaotic patterns crawls across the surface and between the spheres, forming into weaving links of serpents in figure eight, consuming their own tails with sharp teeth and glittering eyes of ruby. A corroded iron pendant dangles from the centre of this strange set of prayer beads, forming into a flat oval token which bears a gilded key over an arched gateway of dark green jade. On the reverse side of the token, an intricate pinion has been engraved.

a tenebrous, kaleidoscopic pendant

August 18, 2008

Thin, blackened strands of iron coalesce in a swirling, loosely braided cord of glinting metal-work upon which dangles this coruscating bauble; the woven chain fashioned in excessive length. The pendant itself is composed of two thin, glasswork wheels, affixed to each other at the center with a golden rivet. Only one wheel bears the delicate loop through which the chain is threaded, this clever mechanism allowing for the other prismatic wheel to spin and glitter wildly. As the disks revolve and catch the light, they produce an awesome array of shifting chromatic patterns, images reminiscent of the moribund sunset and effulgent rays of dawn. Contrasting this joyous projection of luminous etherealness, the kaleidoscopic arrays of glasses themselves are circumscribed by frames of dirtied, tarnished gold, lending to this trinket a palpable sense of rapture contained within gloom. A tiny, intricate pinion is engraved upon the back of the pendant.

a silver hairpin affixed with a carnelian sparrow

August 18, 2008

This hairpin has been wrought of shimmering silver, its straight and slender form tapering into a dull point that is about the length of a lady’s finger. Upon the top of the hairpin is an exquisite carnelian stone that has been expertly cut into the shape of a swooping sparrow. Miniscule threads of silver detail the sparrow’s features, molten silver having been poured into the deep etchings of the stone.

a chambered filigree perfume pendant

August 18, 2008

Delicate strands of lustrous gold wrap and weave around each other to create an intricate filigree depiction of a viscanti woman with long, flowing hair that veils much of the vial. Tiny flecks of onyx speckle the strands and are inlaid at the top and bottom of the tapered locket. A tiny latch to one side of the woman’s face and an even smaller catch disguised as a hair ornament allow for the face to swing open, giving access to a tiny, scented sachet that may be dipped in various perfumes. The pendant is adorned with a small clasp on the top into which a chain may be woven, allowing it to be worn as a necklace. An intricate pinion has been engraved on the bottom of the pendant.

a pearlescent Ouroborian hairpin

August 18, 2008

Exquisite black pearl forms the head of this delicate hairpin, expertly carved into a miniature representation of an ouroboros devouring its own tail. The serpent is coiled upon itself in a small sphere, each fine scale perfectly etched into the shimmering dark pearl. From the depths of the sinuous coils above, a gleaming silver pin extends several inches, coming to a fine point that would secure the most wayward locks. Etched into the underside of the ouroboros’s coils is a tiny, intricate pinion.
