Dove grey in appearance, the leather wraps in smooth, uniform lines over the covers and spine, stitching holding it firmly in place. Golden embroidery crawls across the cover, depicting golden imps cavorting in vicious, bloody games, their eyes motes of garnets that gleam with cold cruelty. A solid lock of gold rests between the covers at the top and bottom of the book, allowing the contents to be secured from prying eyes.

a slim marble manual inlaid with silver amaranths

The thin, nearly translucent pages within this slim manual are protected by two sheets of thin white marble veined with blood-red occlusions and bound together with a corset-lacing of crimson silk at the right side of the volume. The front cover bears an inlaid design of enamel depicting several amaranths in full bloom that shed silvery petals touched with a light tinge of pink across the cover. A latch of silver filigree rests at the right side of the front cover, rotating into place to form a stylised amaranth bud. Within, the ivory pages are touched with a gradiated shade of pink that fades from dusky rose to smooth, creamy paper. A delicate flourish of black ink surrounds each page numeral, forming into slender amaranth vines or curling petals.

a worn and decaying nihilistic manual

The thick pages of this manual are ragged and unkempt, and bound within thick black leather over thin placards of wood stained and warped by mould. Rivulets of trails run across the surface, and the edges of pages and cover alike are gnawed and ragged, testament to the efforts of insects and age. A ragged sigil in faded silver paint adorns the cover, designating it as a book bound to contain the lore of the Demon Lords of Nil. Faded and yellowed with age, a small tag of decaying paper on the inside cover bears an illegibly scrawled name.

a twilight blue manual of gas flames

This thick manual is bound in soft blue leather the shade of gas flames. Intricately stylized silver flames lick across the front of the manual, studded with motes of sapphire and fiery opal that seem to burn with a cold flame as they catch the light. A thick ribbon of midnight blue silk embroidered with rich gold thread bears the images of interlocking cogs, themselves ornamented with miniscule chips of clear diamond; the length of fabric knots securely around a small vial. Fastened to the outer edge of the front cover via silver wire, the clear vial bears iridescent scales that shimmer with a faint, blue colour, suggesting merian scales ripped from their prior owners. The beguiling scent of gas and incense rises from the pages of the manual, lending an intoxicating aura to the book.

a nihilistic manual

The cover of this thick manual is bound in a stark white leather adorned with seared patterns depicting the Demon Lords in their respective abodes. Nifilhema hangs suspended by wires in the upper right corner, the iron maiden behind her in faint lines. To her left, Ashtorath is posed mid-rage before a set of bells. Beneath him, Gorgulu writhes, tentacles and mouths reaching in every direction – to his right, naught but a shadowy web with an indistinct figure is depicted. At the centre of the book, the Supreme Master Luciphage lounges indolently on a massively ornate throne, a skull-topped stave in one outstretched hand.

a delicate manual of ivory angel skin

Supple angel skin, bleached to a uniform hue of creamy ivory, serves as the binding for this thick manual. Only the most simple of enhancements have been applied to the cover: the corners are wrapped with unadorned guards of polished iron, and the spine is stitched with a fine, straight line of sanguine silk that secures the pages within. Silver lettering runs down the straight line of the spine alongside the stitching, declaiming title and author in a slanting font. Within the front cover of the book, a small watercolour design, that of a blood-red moon crossed with black clouds, has been inked.

an indigo manual coated with filigree

The smooth indigo leather that wraps this thick manual has been coated with a hard casing of curling iron filigree. Moulded iron encloses both covers, hinging at the spine with thick pivot points secured with sapphire-tipped retaining pins. The black metal of the swirling design gleams with strands of gold melted onto the filigree, providing a rich touch to the otherwise understated design.
