a flickering chandelier of iron foliage

August 30, 2008

Smoldering lambency emits from the beaks of many wrought-iron crows, perched here within the tangled latticework of a grim chandelier.

Hanging from the ceiling in a veritable tangle of iron latticework, the very form of this chandelier is sculpted in the semblance of a burgeoning knot of wyrden verdure. A panoply of miniature birds and insects adorn the vines of the frame, composed of glittering jewels which furtively catch the flickering glow of the chandelier. The source of illumination is contained within the cawing beaks of five crows, each iron bird roosted within the thicket of metal foliage, wings outstretched. Each ebon avian is marked by differently coloured eyes, designating the four Aspects of Crow, whilst the mighty figure of the central crow remains true to its namesake, the carved feathers ruffled imperiously.
